As a performing musician, I’ve always believed music is about connection, but lately Facebook’s algorithms on my official artist page have become a wall rather than a bridge to my listeners and fans.
For the past few years since the pandemic, I’ve done what was expected and sought to stay connected with my listeners and fans through Facebook’s own platform and systems. But I’ve realized this isn’t the kind of relationship I want with my community, especially from my official artist's page.
So I’m announcing that, going forward, I am shifting my primary focus away from Facebook’s digital noise and more toward my own artist website, this blog, my mailing list, and ultimately my music, which I remain as excited about as ever.
My official artist's Facebook page will remain online more as a kind of cyber footprint and a bulletin board for seasonal highlights, but it will no longer serve as a primary source for active news or event invites for my shows. It has already been moving in this direction for the past year and will continue to do so. Listeners are invited to discover my music on Youtube.
Going forward, I am incredibly excited at the prospect of more direct connections with my fans and listeners!
