Lately, among other things, I have been engaged in the development of my original song, “Josefina,” as a symphonic work, and this is one of the biggest musical feats that I have ever undertaken, maybe the biggest.
Among other things, collaborating with an arranger to bring to the world music that I have carried with me mentally for a long time is an incredible task. The arranger and myself each bring to the music our distinct experiences and our own “musical lingos." These musical dialects threaten to subvert, even if temporarily, my usual way of thinking about music as a “universal” language.
